Behind the Scenes Video for Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge Arrives
Last week ILMxLAB and Oculus announced that they’d be sharing more details about upcoming virtual reality (VR) title Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge and today they’ve delivered. A new reveal video goes behind the scenes with the developers as well as showcasing more concept art and the first early footage.
The video is a treasure trove of information for all those Star Wars fans eager to learn more. There are interviews with Director Jose Perez III and other ILMxLAB staff, as well as some of the cast. It’s been revealed that actor and comedian Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live, Star Wars Resistance) will star as Seezelslak, an Azumel bartender, whilst Debra Wilson (Mad TV, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order) will play power-hungry pirate Tara Rashin.
“Star Wars Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge is a dream project for all of us at ILMxLAB. Bobby Moynihan and Debra Wilson are really bringing these characters to life with great passion,” said Perez in a statement. “Building off of the groundbreaking work for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, our team is working tirelessly to expand the story of Black Spire Outpost. We are excited for fans to have the opportunity to battle evil space pirates, explore Batuu, engage with iconic characters, or just hang out in Seezelslak’s cantina and play a relaxing game of Repulsor Darts.”
Further have been released about the story which is set between Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. You “play a droid repair technician who crash lands on Batuu after a pirate attack.” You’ll then meet Seezelslak in his cantina where he’ll tell stories transporting you to other places and times in the Star Wars galaxy. Which opens up a world of possibilities when it comes to what content they feature.
“We’re thrilled to get a chance to expand upon the story of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and bring Batuu home in a whole new way,” said Alyssa Finley, Senior Producer. “Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge is being crafted from the ground up to harness the unique power of virtual reality storytelling. For Star Wars fans, there’s nothing like meeting new and iconic characters face to face, and embarking on exciting adventures through the wilds of Batuu.”
It’s also been confirmed Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge will be coming to Oculus Quest later this year, with no mention of Oculus Rift. As further updates are released, VRFocus will let you know.
