Big Town Chef is Gino D’Acampo’s Attempt at NFT Metaverse Gaming
This kind of feels like a very late April Fool’s joke but it isn’t – because this game arrived last month – but Italian TV chef Gino D’Acampo has unveiled a play-to-earn NFT videogame called Big Town Chef. Yes, that’s right, D’Acampo has his own crypto gaming team who’ve created a title where you can farm, trade virtual ingredients and compete in cook-off battles, all with some of the scariest looking avatars in this genre.
Big Town Chef is all about earning tokens through the art of virtual cooking, and then using these tokens to purchase digital assets or traded for real-world rewards. Built upon the Polygon network and powered by the $BURP token, Big Town Chef isn’t purely about cooking, you’ll be able to grow your own food as you compete with other players to earn those tokens.
As is the way with these blockchain, Web3 videogames, Big Town Chef is being built around the premise of decentralised gaming. This means the community that grows around it will be able to steer the narrative, shaping and voting on the direction Big Town Chef takes.
Key to the whole experience are those very smiley NFT avatars as they’re your ticket into the game itself. After you’ve acquired one you’ll be able to “stake in-game NFT seeds on their own patch of virtual land and grow them into more valuable items.” These can then be farmed and traded at the Big Town Marketplace for those aforementioned items.
If you’ve not heard of Gino D’Acampo before – if you’re outside of the UK then that’s highly likely – he’s a celebrity daytime TV chef best known for regular appearances on This Morning or the series Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip featuring Gordon Ramsey.
Big Town Chef is currently under development but if you’re interested in playing then you can reserve a space on the NFT presale list, simply join its Discord community. Those that do will be “first in line to secure the freshly minted chef avatars when they are released” notes the Big Town Chef team. There’s also another bonus. Securing one will give early players “gameplay and earning advantages” when the P2E title arrives later this year.
