Bigscreen TV Has Added More than 50 Free Live Channels to Social VR Platform
The Social VR platform Bigscreen TV has incorporated a series of updates over the past few months and dramatically expanded the scope and functionality of the app. It has grown from PC screen mirroring application to a one-stop portal for content consumption and virtual reality interaction.
Today has seen another significant update to the platform with a fresh update now allowing up to eight users and the addition of more than 50 live channels which can be watched at the same time. The new update will enable Bigscreen users to watch news, movies, sports and anime and other content together with their friends. Users will get free access to multiple channels including NBC, Red Bull TV and Bloomberg among others. The free live channels service also comes with integration to platforms such as Twitch and YouTube. Every channel on Bigscreen will be capable of hosting thousands of people who will be watching in groups of 8. The channels are also public, enabling viewers to meet new people watching similar content as them.
The newly added 50+ live channels are all free and will be available 24/7. Some of the free channels will, however, include integrated ad-supported services just like in YouTube, Twitch, Pluto and Comet.
The Bigscreen platform is built to be social and includes cross-platform support so users with PC VR headsets such as the Oculus Rift, Index, Vive and Windows headsets will be able to join those using devices such as the Oculus Go, Oculus Quest and the Samsung Gear VR. Some of the channels will be unavailable in some regions but most of the content will be available 24/7.
Bigscreen developed a new virtual reality video browser technology capable of loading both video streaming and livestreaming sites. Bigscreen has also provided integration with YouTube, Comet, Pluto and Twitch and plans to add integration to additional streaming websites.
There will also be the new Bigscreen TV events packed with various upcoming offerings such as the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch and the Overwatch League Playoffs.
The latest update has also introduced a new modern-themed starting environment with great user-interface improvements and bug fixes. There are more upcoming updates such as premium movie nights and a friends system.
The latest release has come after massive Bigscreen February update. The platform remains in Beta and can be downloaded free.
