BoxVR Gets a Big Quest Update This Week, Also To Be Renamed FitXR
The BoxVR app is already available on numerous virtual reality headsets. The last platform where it arrived was Oculus Quest. This week, the fitness-focused VR studio FitXR is rolling out major updates on the Oculus Quest headset which will also include changing the name of the app to FitXR.
The relaunch as FitXR is geared towards capturing ‘the energy of live fitness classes’ according to the studio. The studio aims to build upon its experience with BoxVR by offering users more than four hours of boxing-inspired workouts. The workouts in the VR fitness app have been designed to accommodate beginners, intermediate users and even the more advanced players. They are choreographed by professional trainers to provide users with a full-body session.
The update will also introduce a new feedback system which makes users feel like they have their personal trainer. The launch will also come with three DLC packs. There will also be enhanced multiplayer features that enable up to six people to participate in on-demand classes (via ghost data or live players). Later in the year, FitXR will roll out different workout styles.
According to FitXR co-founder Sameer Baroova, the studio now wants to take on the fitness industry “head-on” with the launch of FitXR. He stated that the studio offers users a virtual fitness solution which is both versatile and effective and which will motivate people to reach their fitness goals while still remaining fun at its core. The studio has stuck with fun workouts which have been “the real driving force in creating FitXR”.
According to Baroova, the studio was inspired by the success of BoxVR which demonstrated “the massive public appetite” for the fun and engaging workouts which users can partake of from the comfort of their homes. He continued that FitXR can cater for the many users who may not feel comfortable going to public spaces or in group workouts. The app enables them to enjoy this from the comfort of their homes. VR fitness represents the future of fitness and offers endless possibilities that FitXR is looking to exploit.
Baroova is looking forward to user feedback to the launch of FitXR and to incorporate new workout styles to the studio in the future.
The release date for FitXR for Oculus Quest has been slated for 30th July 2020 and it will come as a free update for users who already own BoxVR. The regular retail price for the app will be $29.99.
