Digital Catapult is allowing 10 early-stage VR and AR businesses to join its Augmentor programme, which aims to expedite business adoption and investment in the immersive sector in the UK. Under the 10-week long programme, these businesses will receive technical and business guidance, access to state-of-the-art facilities and backing for confidently pitching their ideas at an exclusive investor showcase in September 2018.
The companies are: HoloMe from London; KageNova from Guildford, Lume VR from London UK; Valkyrie Industries from London; Swim AR from London; Subconscious VR from Leicester; Kodama Ltd from London; Somewhere Else Solutions from London; Arcade from London; and Motion Pixel from Tamworth.
The participants will be provided access to the company’s immersive facilities including the Immersive Labs in London, Brighton, North East Tees Valley and Belfast and the Dimension Studio in South London, where they can leverage the equipment to develop innovative and commercially focused applications for augmented and virtual reality. Exclusive educational sessions are planned for these companies wherein they will share Digital Catapult’s research and insight with support from Immerse UK, Seed Legals, Ignition Law & Finance and ForrestBrown, covering topics such as business models, routes to market and legal implications. They will also have access to academic expertise from the Centre for Intelligent Games and Game Intelligence (IGGI), the University of Bath and University College London.
According to Rebecca Gregory-Clarke, lead technologist at Digital Catapult – the UK has great potential to lead and become the best place in the world to produce immersive applications.
