Don’t StressOut During the Open Beta This Weekend
Destroying stuff in virtual reality (VR) is always a lot of fun and this weekend indie studio VRmadillo is actively encouraging it. The developer will launch an open beta tomorrow for its mayhem filled title StressOut for PC VR headsets.
A casual videogame all about destruction, players will find themselves inside a frozen-in-time shopping centre with their only companion being an entertainingly evil AI who lives in their wristwatch. The only way to escape is by levelling the place as fast as possible, using an assortment of weapons and superpowers.
Players will be able to pull and push stock around using telekinesis abilities or simply go for the baseball bat approach and smash everything. StressOut will also utilise Valve Index’s finger tracking capabilities so players can have full button-free control over their special abilities.
“You see, it’s in our nature, or at least it was when we were kids, to try and break things. Then we are taught that we’re not supposed to do that, as people tend to get mad at you. If you break stuff as an adult, there are consequences. You have to reimburse the owner and perhaps even get a fine from the authorities. That’s why we created StressOut, a world where one can go beyond the limitations of the real world,” says VRmadillo in a statement.
VRmadillo’s beta weekend for StressOut runs from 9th – 12th October 2020, supporting Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Valve Index. You can signup via the official website. If you do participate then there will be some bonuses. You’ll gain access to experimental builds, receive a shoutout in the game, plus the best beta testers will be awarded an in-game statuette as well as a full copy of the finish videogame.
The studio is planning an Early Access release on Steam before the end of the year. As further details are released for StressOut, VRFocus will keep you updated.
