Enjoy Fourth Of July Fireworks From Home With This Free AR Experience
Log into the TotalAR app on July 4th for a 12-minute spectacle delivered straight to your doorstep.
Ohio-based immersive technology developer Holopundits isn’t about to let the COVID-19 outbreak stop you from enjoying this year’s Fourth of July festivities. Next month the company is launching a free AR fireworks experience directly to smartphones, allowing those of us under lockdown to enjoy a proper Independence Day celebration while practicing safe social distancing.
Beginning July 4th at 9pm local time, users can login to Holopundits’ Total AR app, available free on both iOS and Android, to view a 12-minute AR spectacle featuring a variety of America-themed fireworks and explosions.
To get started, simply enable camera and location services for the app, select the “Geo AR” option, and point your smartphone at an open portion of the night sky. The experience is only available until midnight, though you will be able to view it as many times as you’d like within that 3-hour window.
“We wanted to make something special for the public to enjoy,” said Vinod Dega, founder and CEO of HoloPundits. “With our app, Fourth of July fireworks can be brought to life wherever you are through augmented reality. People can enjoy the holiday safely, and that is important to us.
“In my personal life might go downtown at 9 o’clock watch the fireworks then come back up to where I am and watch the fireworks again over my neighbor’s house,” added Doug Smith, senior account manager at HoloPundits.
Holopundits’ TotalAR app features a number of downloadable AR content, such as hot air balloons, UFOs, rainbows, and floating lanterns just to name a few. TotalAR will also be introducing new AR content leading into the 2020 holiday season.
TotalAR is available for download free via the App Store and Google Play. Those looking to catch the AR fireworks display will need to login on July 4th between the hours of 9pm and 12am.
