Falcon Age Takes Flight on PlayStation VR, Launch Trailer Released
If you own a PlayStation VR and want to soar through the skies then Ubisoft’s 2016 title Eagle Flight is your best bet. However, if you love all things feathered but prefer keeping your feet firmly on the ground then check out Outerloop Games’ Falcon Age which arrived today.
While Falcon Age is playable on PlayStation 4 via a normal TV, the experience has been specially designed for PlayStation VR headsets. A single-player adventure, the story is a futuristic tale set on a dying colony planet. Robot invaders have completely decimated all the resources that were once plentiful, in turn creating a desert in their wake.
You play as Ara, who has been thrown in jail for a minor infraction. Sat in her cell watching the hours fly by, she befriends a young falcon. Managing to escape, Ara and the falcon must then work together to help the resistance reclaim their freedom, whilst at the same time reclaiming her cultural legacy by learning the lost art of falconry.
As the new launch trailer showcases, you and your falcon are inseparable. From playing with its claws making hand gestures to carrying bombs to weak locations and picking up robots so you can smash their circuits in, Falcon Age is very much the buddy movie of the VR world.
Laced with light humour, you’ll need to name, pet, feed, teach, and dress up your falcon with hats, scarves to bond with it, before roaming the land to hunt for materials. These can then be used to feed, heal and strengthen your falcon. On a more serious gameplay note, the falcon can be equipped with useful items like sonar and armour.
Falcon Age is available on PlayStation Store now for $19.99 USD / £15.99 GBP. VRFocus will continue its coverage of Outerloop Games and Falcon Age, reporting back with any further updates.
