The multisensory mask is attached to a virtual reality headset and releases a full sensory experience into the user’s virtual environment thereby creating a more immersive and realistic VR experience. The FeelReal experience provides a large spectrum of experiences that includes smell, temperature and vibration thereby ensuring that all the user’s senses are fully engaged in the new virtual worlds.
Having completed its fundraising campaign, the startup will now move to the manufacturing phase and plans to launch the masks by August of this year. The fundraising has defied expectations. From an initial goal of $20,000, the startup has been able to attract seven-fold its initial target in pledges. This has been a vast improvement from FeelReal’s 2015 fundraising effort which was largely unsuccessful. This time, the market dynamics have changed significantly and there is greater interest in the virtual reality peripheral experiences such as haptics and olfaction.
This round of fundraising was wildly successful from the get-go. Within the first hour of the opening of the fundraising, the campaign had already hit the $20,000 target and went on to raise more than $75,000 in the first 24 hours. FeelReal has now hit $140,794 with 29 days still left to spare. Virtual reality fans are clearly warming up to the idea of sensory experiences in their virtual environment.
Due to the massive success in the funding campaign, FeelReal is also planning to add further video support to its product which will include Guided Meditation VR along with the Mind Labyrinth VR Dreams. The startup has stated that several top VR game developers have reached out to them following the successful fundraising and the company may be adding support for more games to its lineup starting with the VR titles ZOMBIES and a large part of SUNSHINE.
