HTC Now Offers a Vive Cosmos Wireless Bundle for $799 For is Anniversary Sale
HTC Vive anniversaries have typically been grand and pompous affairs with plenty of discounts as well as promotional offers. This year, with the COVID-19 raging around the globe, the event has been a little subdued but HTC has still provided a deal in the form of a Vive Cosmos Wireless Bundle which will include the Vive Cosmos headset and a wireless adapter all for a price of $799. The offer is only available until Wednesday, April 8 2020.
This will result in $248 in savings over the purchase of the Vive Cosmos headset and the wireless adapter separately that typically costs $1047. This offer runs through the end of April 8. The offer is only available for a limited duration of time in the US.
The Vive Cosmos headset has the modular faceplate with the four lenses, a pair of wireless controllers as well as the Wireless Adaptor for the Vive Cosmos headset. You will, therefore, not have to worry about the encumbrance of cables.

HTC has a large lineup of virtual reality hardware slated for this year thanks to the modular removable front panel of its headset lineup. HTC’s developer-oriented Vive Cosmos XR headset that has been designed for mixed reality is set to be released in Q2 2020.
Then there is the Vive Cosmos Play which is the ‘baby option’ in the lineup. The Cosmos Play is a stripped back version that is built with four inside-out tracking cameras and has no external headphones. The headset is already available on the website although the listing does not include the price and the release window.
All the Vive Cosmos hardware have core specifications that include a high resolution of 2880 x 1700 (1440 x 1700 per eye) via an LCD display. The hinged front of the headset enables wearers to easily slip in and out of virtual reality. The headsets also feature 6DoF motion controllers.
You can realize a wireless PC VR experience through a Virtual Desktop software on Oculus Quest. This configuration results in the significant compression of data which leads to higher latency that can make wearers sick. Since data is transmitted via a regular Wi-Fi network that can result in network hitches when the router is far away of when the network is too congested. This can also induce sickness in the VR experience.
The Cosmos headset lineup providers a much wider range for controller tracking than Oculus Quest due to its high-resolution, side cameras as well as its integrated headphones. The Cosmos headset offers greater comfort for most wearers than the Quest headset that is front-heavy.
Oculus Quest is a standalone headset which suits many users. HTC and Qualcomm have toyed with the idea of interfacing the Cosmos with the smartphone although the concept is yet to see the light of day.
