HTC VIVE announces VIVE enterprise solutions business unit
A new business unit and strategy has been announced by HTC VIVE that aims to deliver a complete portfolio of extended reality (XR) solutions to enterprises and developers across the world.
The new organisation, dubbed as VIVE Enterprise Solutions, focuses on assisting businesses that are looking for comprehensive XR solutions that are a mix of hardware, software, and services for professional needs.
Being a pioneer in the VR industry, VIVE has spent more than four years partnering with small, medium, and large firms to develop the future of enterprise XR. Unlike VIVE, the new business unit will not just focus on hardware alone, but will combine software, hardware, professional services, business solutions, and support to address four key areas where enterprises are investing, namely training and simulation, design and visualisation, virtual collaboration, and location-based entertainment and attractions.
Furthermore, VIVE Studios, the company’s development and publishing arm for VR content, is also actively developing the VIVE Sync, a business collaboration tool that allows up to 30 people worldwide to interact in a virtual meeting space.
A PTC report published in May found that industrial enterprises are the highest adopters of AR, comprising nearly 60% of the survey responses. Fifty-five per cent of use cases aimed at improving worker productivity focus on delivering instructions and guidance primarily within manufacturing, service, and training environments.
Last November, HTC launched its enterprise-themed Vive Focus VR set, which according to the company, ‘reinforces Vive’s increased commitment to bringing best-in-class design and software expertise – paired with the world’s best VR hardware – to businesses of all sizes’. The key aspect of the Vive Focus is its standalone capability, promising 2880 x 1600 graphics and a 110-degree field of view, alongside the Snapdragon 835 Mobile VR platform.
