I Expect You to Die Developer Schell Games Announces Sword Fighting Title Until You Fall

Over the past few years, Schell Games has created some excellent virtual reality (VR) titles such as HoloLAB Champions, Water Bears VR and its most well-known experience I Expect You to Die. Today, the team has unveiled its latest VR videogame, a magic-infused adventure called Until You Fall.

At this stage, Schell Games hasn’t released too many details regarding Until You Fall, just that it’ll be a sword-wielding dungeon crawling experience that features various sword fighting styles and enemies to combat. “Players will be masters of their own martial style and battle corrupted humanoids, monstrous creatures, and unknown horrors,” claims the press release. “Death is inevitable, though win or lose, players will make progress towards the next level.

Could this be some sort of Diablo-style dungeon crawler for VR? This actually sounds more akin to Sanzaru Games’ latest Asgard’s Wrath, a fantasy role-playing game (RPG) with lots of blood, gore and dismemberment with a trusty blade. From the three pieces of artwork released so far, there do look to be three playable characters, a sword carrying warrior, some sort of stealthy ranger, and a brutish dude with a hammer.

“We’re blending various styles of sword fighting to create an intense, real-time combat experience that hasn’t been seen before with VR,” remarked Jesse Schell, CEO of Schell Games in a statement. “Using our deep knowledge of these platforms, we believe this game will push boundaries and leave players with the immersive melee fighting experience they’ve been craving.”

Currently, Schell Games hasn’t confirmed which headsets will be supported by Until You Fall, with an announcement to be made at a later date. As the launch is scheduled to take place this year, more details could be arriving as soon as the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in March.
