Immersive Film Exhibition The New Infinity Coming to Wisdome LA for one Night Only
If you happen to be in Los Angeles this coming Saturday then you may want to head down to Wisdom LA for a special one-off event. Planetarium-inspired immersive art experience The New Infinity will be appearing at the 360-degree dome theatre.
A special, one-day-only event, The New Infinity will showcase a series of three immersive films from artists David OReilly, Holly Herndon & Mathew Dryhurst, and Fatima Al Qadiri & Transforma. The New Infinity originally began last year, debuting in Berlin and drawing in more than 23,000 visitors. Since then the exhibition has toured internationally, including Amsterdam and Barcelona.
Wisdome LA will also host a Planetary Art Summit featuring artists and leaders in the space. Participants will include Thomas Oberender, Director of the Berliner Festspiele; David OReilly, visual artist and game designer; Marta Fontolan, Director of Sprüth Magers Los Angeles, and Jesse Damiani, author and expert for media and new technologies.
“Historically used by the scientific and educational communities, planetariums have the ability to showcase some of the largest and most impressive artistic images of our time,” said Dr. Thomas Oberender, director of the Berliner Festspiele, a co-producer of The New Infinity in a statement. “The mobile architecture of a planetarium, combined with highly-developed, 360-degree audio and digital technology, can enable new experiences, create new communities and facilitate events, attracting an audience that the arts often find hard to reach. Visitors do not view these forms of art from the outside, but rather become co-producers by their very experience of them.”
The New Infinity at Wisdome LA will take place on Saturday, 29th June from 4pm PT. Tickets cost $29 USD and can be purchased here.
