John Lewis & Partners to trial new ‘Visualise Your Space’ virtual reality experience
John Lewis & Partners has announced that it will be trialling a virtual reality (VR) experience called ‘Visualise Your Space’, in order to help customers in deciding which home products they should shop for in order to suit their home perfectly.
Guided by John Lewis Partners in three trial shops, customers who are shopping for home products will be able to put the dimensions, windows and doors of the room of their choice to update into an iPad via an app, and then drop in John Lewis products to see how their interior ideas would look in their home. Customers will also be able to change the colour of the floors and walls to create a complete look.
Caitlin Price, John Lewis Partner and head of buying for furniture and flooring said: “This new technology will enable customers to be braver in their choices, and test technology that architects and interior designers have been using to visualise their designs, and be comfortable with the results.” The trial will begin at John Lewis & Partners’s Kingston shop on June 26, in Cambridge on June 28, and in Horsham on July 2.
A study from Magid in April found that both VR and AR can play a crucial role in enhancing brand perception. The study also found that words like ‘exciting’, ‘realistic’, and ‘curious’ are the one that consumers are connecting with VR. In case of AR content, consumers connected words that included ‘practical’, ‘frustrating’ and ‘lifelike’. The study concluded that both AR/VR can have a positive impact on the perception of the brand, if either of them enhances the experience in a purposeful way.
