Latest Zenith Trailer Showcases New Mechanics, Steam Page Now Live
After a successful Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign in 2019 for Zenith, a virtual reality (VR) MMORPG, developer Ramen VR has released incremental updates on the project. The latest to arrive is a gameplay trailer teasing the alpha build of Zenith, with a couple of new gameplay mechanics as well.
The videogame already looks in an impressive state with a mixture of environments as well as in combat gameplay. One of the new additions to briefly feature is climbing so you know traversing the levels is going to get physical. As for the fighting mechanics you can see parrying and blocking in action as well as dual wielding swords.
But that’s only a very small part of what Ramen VR has created. “We are revealing less than 20% of the new content we’ve already built, including environments, classes, enemy mechanics. We’re saving the best for last,” said co-founder Andy Tsen in a statement.
So there’s still plenty to reveal in the coming months. For now, the team has also launched a Steam page for Zenith so you can wishlist the title if you so desire.
Zenith’s Kickstarter managed to raise an impressive $280,075 from 3,415 backers, go going considering the initial goal was $25,000. Since then Ramen VR has expanded its team adding a new engineer and artist to help bring the project to life.
The aim is to build a massive online world inspired by anime and JRPG classics, where players can make new friends, explore the vast open world, go on quests, fight monsters and craft lots of cool new items. Zenith will support headsets such as Oculus Quest and Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index and Windows Mixed Reality, as well as desktop for those without a VR headset.
Currently, Zenith is listed for launch sometime in 2021. As further details arise, VRFocus will keep you updated.
