New Falcon Age Trailer Showcases Gameplay Details
During Gamescom 2018 indie developer Outerloop Games announced its first virtual reality (VR) compatible title, a single-player adventure experience called Falcon Age. The title is expected to launch in 2019, and with 2018 soon coming to a close, the studio has released a new gameplay trailer.
The new video goes through all the gameplay basics found in Falcon Age, from raising the titular falcon as a chick to training it in the ways of hunting. You’ll also be able to see some of the crafting elements, like producing your own crops and creating all sorts of culinary dishes.
But Falcon Age isn’t some happy go lucky, new-age, videogame where you live in peaceful surroundings. There will be moment s where those hunting skills then have to be turned into fighting skills.
As Outerloop Games explain in its story synopsis: “The game starts on a dying colony planet with its culture destroyed, resourced depleted, and turned into a desert by machine invaders. Ara’s been wrongfully thrown in jail for a minor infraction. While she awaits her fate in a lonely cell, she passes the time by befriending a young falcon. Together they escape and set off on an adventure to help the resistance reclaim their freedom and drive off the invaders.”
So as Ara, you need to reclaim her cultural legacy in the lost art of falcon hunting against a force of automated colonisers. At the same time exploring a strange land, bond with your new falcon mate and help the resistance against these evil robots, so lots to do.
Outerloop Games hasn’t yet specified a release date for Falcon Age on PlayStation VR. Whilst built from the ground up for VR, the title can be played without the headset if needed. In VR you’ll be able to use PlayStation Move Controllers or a DualShock 4, without a VR headset it’s standard first-person controls on a DualShock 4.
