Oculus Quest & Rift S Arrive Next Month, Pre-Orders Now Live
The dramatic conclusion to #QuestCountdown ends in yet another countdown.
During Facebook’s annual F8 developer conference earlier this morning, Zuckerburg himself took to the stage to outline the companies commitment to user privacy and company ethics, teasing a variety of features and programs designed to create a more secure ecosystem of applications and products.
Naturally, Zuck took his time throughout the presentation, waiting until the very last minute to reveal the long-awaited release date of both the Oculus Quest standalone headset and the upgraded Oculus Rift S PC headset. After an extremely brutal #QuestCountdown marketing campaign by Oculus, we now know that both headsets will begin shipping May 21st, arriving in the hands of US and European users by the end of the month.
Pre-orders for the Quest and Rift S are available now through Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, Walmart, and GameStop in the United States, and Currys PC World, FNAC, and MediaMarkt in the United Kingdon and Europe. Outside of the keynote event, we also received confirmation of an official Oculus Quest Travel Case, available for $40 through Oculus. Leaked images of official Oculus in-ear headphones have also been making the rounds online, teasing a possible alternative to the Quest’s spatial audio solution.
The Oculus Rift S and Oculus Quest are available for pre-order now via the providers listed above. You can pick up the Rift S and 64GB Quest for $399. There’s also the slightly beefier 128GB Quest, which is available for $499. Each headset will come bundled with the updated Touch controllers.
