PlayStation 4’s Dreams Arrives February 2020
Today saw Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) broadcast its fourth and final State of Play for 2019 and it was a little light on virtual reality (VR) content. One of the notable announcements came from Media Molecule and its highly anticipated PlayStation 4 exclusive Dreams, with an official launch date now confirmed.
Dreams entered an Early Access phase earlier this year, in an effort to grow not only the community but also showcasing the potential of the creative videogame. With the launch now only a couple of months away the team has also revealed a few new additions.
“We have also been working on a whole host of new things to inspire players at launch, including a totally new introduction to the game, a new season of tutorials, tool improvements, new game content and a feature-length game, titled Art’s Dream,” said Media Molecules’ Communications Manager, Abbie Heppe on the PlayStation Blog. “Art’s Dream was made by us to show the endless possibilities in Dreams; it crosses genres, features some amazing characters, and shows our love of music in a big way.”
When it comes to VR support Heppe revealed on Twitter that Dreams won’t support PlayStation VR at launch but work is still ongoing so it will definitely still happen at some point.
While the core experience in Dreams is its creative mode allowing players to build and share their own videogame ideas, the title will also feature a story mode using the same tools available to the rest of the community.
Media Molecule will be launching Dreams on Valentines Day, 14th February 2020, for $39.99. If you’ve been part of the Early Access phase then you’ll be upgraded to the full version of Dreams via a downloadable update at no additional cost. When further details regarding VR compatibility is made available then VRFocus will let you know.
