PlayStation 5’s Hitman 3 to Include Free PS4 Digital Copy for VR Support
For PlayStation VR players, 2021 will begin with a bang thanks to IO Interactive’s launch of Hitman 3 towards the end of January. While virtual reality (VR) support was confirmed from the outset as well as next-gen upgrades for those buying the PlayStation 4 version, the studio has also made sure PlayStation 5 owners won’t miss out.

In a PlayStation Blog post today, IO Interactive confirmed that if you buy the PlayStation 5 version of Hitman 3 you’ll get a free digital PlayStation 4 copy so you can play the videogame using PlayStation VR. As most are aware by now, the PlayStation 5 doesn’t currently have any native VR titles expected, they’re all PS4 ones with backwards compatibility.
If you do buy the PlayStation 4 version of Hitman 3 and then pickup a PS5, then the title will be upgraded free of charge. So no matter which version you purchase, there’s going to be no difficulty in accessing the VR content. Don’t forget that if you own any of the previous PS4 videogames from the trilogy then you’ll be able to access their locations in VR for the first time.
Announced during Sony Interactive Entertainment’s (SIE) State of Play during the summer, Hitman 3 will feature five gameplay modes, the main campaign, Elusive Targets, Escalations, Contracts Mode and Sniper Assassin, all with VR support. The only mode not returning is the competitive 1v1 multiplayer Ghost Mode.

Scheduled to launch on 20th January 2021, Hitman 3 has been available to pre-order in two editions, Standard and Deluxe, retailing for £54.99 GBP and £74.99 respectively. Pre-ordering nets you the Trinity Pack which has nine items celebrating the trilogy, suit, briefcase and weapon sets in specific colours.
Should any further updates be released ahead of the launch next month, VRFocus will let you know.
