PlayStation 5’s Price and Release Date Revealed
It’s been and day of announcements and to finish things off nicely Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has finally given fans the PlayStation 5 details they’ve been craving, prices and release dates for the upcoming console.
The PlayStation 5 Showcase today featured lots of new trailers for the consoles’ upcoming titles, leaving the best bit of information to last. So the standard PlayStation 5 (with the disc drive) will retail for £449.99 GBP/$499.99 USD whilst the Digital Edition will cost you £359.99/$399.99.
As for availability, the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea will get PlayStation 5 on 12th November, whilst the rest of the world has to wait a week longer until 19th November. As for pre-orders Geoff Keighley confirmed via twitter that they should be going live tomorrow at select retailers.
As previously reported PlayStation 5 will support the current PlayStation VR headset so there are no worries about upgrading. You will need an adaptor to connect your current PlayStation Camera but SIE will supply those free of charge. Unless you want to buy the new HD Camera of course.
As for a PlayStation VR 2, there have been numerous rumours – mainly because of patents – surrounding an improved VR device, but a previous report did say a new version would only be released after PlayStation 5 had released. With today’s Oculus Quest 2 announcement and the fact that Facebook is going all-in on the one model, SIE’s plans for VR are just as important due it being the main rival.
When further details regarding PlayStation VR’s future are available, VRFocus will let you know.
