PTC extends Magic Leap partnership to expand AR in the enterprise
PTC and Magic Leap have announced an extension of their partnership that will let enterprise and industrial customers to merge the AR capabilities of its Vuforia Engine solution with the powerful Magic Leap 1 wearable headset.
Starting from this month, PTC will offer Vuforia Engine to Magic Leap 1 customers, who will have access to the new AR innovations of Vuforia Engine which also includes its differentiated AI-based Model Target technology. Michael Campbell, EVP and GM, augmented reality products, PTC said: “This collaboration enables our many industrial customers to pair our powerful AR software with equally powerful hardware.”
During the Hannover Messe trade fair in April, PTC had unveiled its latest Vuforia Expert Capture AR solution that focused on improving the entire process of manufacturing which includes safety, compliance, productivity and quality. Mike Campbell, EVP augmented reality products at PTC said: “Vuforia Expert Capture is a high value, out-of-the-box solution that accelerates AR content creation that enables manufacturers to not only improve the accuracy and speed at which workers successfully complete new or unfamiliar tasks, but also to reduce training costs and time to productivity.”
In a May report released by PTC titled ‘State of Industrial Innovation’, it was found that two thirds of industrial companies said that they are speeding up deployment of AR in order to improve worker productivity. It also found that industrial enterprises are the top most adopters of AR that comprised of approximately 60% of the survey responses. Fifty-five percent of use cases aimed at enhancing worker productivity focused on delivering instructions and guidance primarily within training environments, manufacturing, and service.
