Scare Yourself out the House With Layers of Fear VR on Oculus Quest Today
Bloober Team launched the virtual reality (VR) version of its well-received psychological horror Layers of Fear in December 2019 for PC VR headsets. Today, the title makes its way to Oculus Quest, offering news ways to scare players.
Layers of Fear VR is a heavily story-driven experience where you step into the shoes of a painter aiming to finish his Magnum Opus. As you might expect he’s gone a little mad, so as you wander his Victorian mansion unravelling what’s been going on you’ll have to deal with visions, fears, and horrors that haunt the painter.
This means the mansion continually changes so there’s no retracing your footsteps. The studio says that this version has been redesigned with Oculus Quest in mind, providing players with greater interactivity and immersion. Delving deeper into Layers of Fear VR will see macabre artwork brought to life and twisted puzzles to solve, in a world inspired by 19th-century masterpiece paintings.
Tension is built through his dark visions twisting the surroundings which can change with each turn of the camera as he loses his sanity. Therefore Layers of Fear VR doesn’t tend to use jump scares.
“After a successful reception of Layers of Fear VR on Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, it was only natural to bring the game to Oculus Quest. The standalone nature of the headset allows for even greater immersion and I believe Layers of Fear VR is now scarier than ever before. Having said that, we have even more in store planned for VR fans,” said Piotr Babieno, Bloober Team CEO in a statement.
Developed by Incuvo and published by Bloober Team, Layers of Fear VR is available on the Oculus Store for $19.99 USD. For further updates on Layers of Fear VR and the latest VR horror titles, keep reading VRFocus.
