Space Ops VR Finally Slated for 30 May Release
Fibrum, the company that is also behind the Desirium has announced last week that it will be publishing its latest project Space Ops VR on Steam on May 30. The co-op first-person shooter game was developed by DevCube Studio and puts the player in the role of a rookie Space Ops recruit who is sent on a mission to take out enemies deep in space.
The game can be played solo or with others in a multiplayer mode where you can band together with friends and finish a number of training objectives in which you are pitted against some monstrous alien foes.
The Steam release of the game will be available in multiple virtual reality headsets including Oculus, Vive and the Windows Mixed Reality VR setup. The game can be played by any PC VR owner. In the score-based PVP mode of the game, it is easy to filter out the greater players and players can even teleport around the stage to get a boost.
If you are a first-time player, you can begin by honing your skills in the basic solo training as well as in the sandbox modes where you will play with various destructive weapons . You can use the Plasma, Kinetic or Beam guns to mow down the hostile foes or the explosives and grenades to send them flying. Have a look at the trailer below:-
In the Arena Mode, you will also find the PvE and PvP gameplay. Here, you can either complete objectives and move the mission forward or go an all-out attrition against the other players. The developers want to include various gameplay types that will also include a skill-based matchmaking system and the score-based mode with leaderboards.
From the trailer, it looks like a Sci-Fi shooter game, similar to DevCube’s previous release, Farhome or like other sci-Fi VR shooters such as Gunheart, Farpoint and Evasion. The player visits a dusty alien planet and goes on a shooting fiesta, mowing down lots of bug-like enemies. You can pick from numerous laser-type guns all of which can be handled using the virtual reality motion controllers.
This will be a very richly-textured experience with powerful graphics and rich content if the trailer is anything to go by. The game has the smooth locomotion that will appeal to some virtual reality players. However, it’s the game’s co-op angle which spells some good tidings for players. The player takes the role of a member of an elite space team running simulations on hostile encounters in a number of planets. Players can either team up with friends and take on joint missions or go on solo missions. It can get even more interesting with the score-based system in the game where the player can get into competitions.
The trailer did not reveal any major spark in the game so players will get to know what really makes the game tick when they finally get to play it. Space Ops VR comes out on May 30 for multiple headsets including HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows VR. Currently, no plans have been revealed yet on the release date for a Quest or PSVR version. The game is already listed on Steam.
