Spatial Finally Available on Oculus Quest Store, Includes Additional Tools
The remote work and collaboration tool Spatial launched officially on Oculus Quest Store on September 3, 2020 with new tools, including hand tracking. Spatial is currently one of the most advanced and coolest social XR collaboration apps in existence. The launch on Quest Store comes after an early access testing period launched early this year.

The Spatial platform provides end users with a cross-device colocation as well as remote work capabilities. It enables remote teams to collaborate on projects or work within a shared virtual space using virtual reality. A test version of the app was launched in May this year which users could download on Quest if they had signed up for the early access via Spatial website.
After several months of testing, the Spatial app is now going into full release on Oculus Quest Store. The good news is that the launch is coming with new tools and additions that add to the app’s already robust feature-set. The launch version of the app now includes features such as Google Docs integration as well as integration with Figma and Slack that enables users to import channels or documents into their Spatial workplace. The VR collaboration app also features a new whiteboard tool with which users can take digital notes in real-time in the virtual environment and display and arrange live web pages.
Spatial has also expanded the video conference feed support to up 20+ users and they will be able to join in via the Spatial web app and it allows up to an extra 30 users in headsets. Spatial has reassured users that there will be no loss in performance if they operate the platform within these limits.
The Spatial app will also provide support for Oculus Quest’s controller-free hand tracking which is expected to improve both the immersion and the expression which is available for the remote teams. Additionally, the platform includes particle effects for actions like high fives, clapping as well as fist-bumping, enabling collaborating teams to celebrate their milestones colorfully. Spatial also stated that the text readability on the VR collaboration app is now ‘vastly improved’, especially across web pages and shared screens.
You can now download Spatial on the Oculus Quest Store. The app is also available across a spectrum of other devices such as Magic Leap, Nreal, HoloLens, mobile and PC. A free and pro version of the app are also available with the latter providing you with unlimited storage options in your Spatial rooms.
