Superhot VR Surprises Fans With Free Boxing Day Update
There’s still a couple of weeks to go until Christmas but the SUPERHOT Team are getting the celebrations in early today. The studio has released a ‘Boxing Day’ update, adding a new level and other features for all versions as well as a big patch for PlayStation VR.
The update is freely available today, accessed by completing the main campaign then loading the Endless floppy disk in the Hacker Room and selecting the Christmas Tree. There’s a brand new endless level, a new scoring system and a festive soundtrack. Players will be able to climb an exclusive leaderboard by punching, dodging, getting headshots, and scoring style shots for maximum points.
As mentioned, the PlayStation VR edition patch helps to improve the overall experience with quality of life improvements, bug fixes, improved performance, and graphical enhancements. “It’s the biggest bug-squashing exercise since the launch of Superhot VR on PlayStation VR,” notes the studio.
That’s not the only version getting a few tweaks. The PC version gets a new menu system, new guest mode, new accessibility settings, and an improved game flow option, whilst Oculus Quest owners can create mini-tournaments based around the endless levels.
“It has been a record year for Superhot VR with more copies sold in 2020 than any other previous year. We couldn’t be happier and are forever grateful for the continued support from our growing community. Everyone at SUPERHOT Team sincerely wishes everyone a most excellent and triumphant 2021,” Alastair Hebson, Head of Business at SUPERHOT in a statement.
Superhot VR has become one of the most popular first-person shooters (FPS) thanks to its gameplay taking place almost entirely in slow-motion. Stay still and time slows, only when you move does everything start to speed up. VRFocus will continue its coverage of Superhot VR, reporting back with any further updates.
