The VR Game Launch Roundup: Fruity Sci-fi Puzzling Action
August hasn’t exactly been a stellar month for new virtual reality (VR) releases which is why VRFocus’ regular Friday roundup has been a little absent. But fear not as the final week makes up for that with a strong lineup of content across most platforms.
Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series – ILMxLAB
The one a lot of PlayStation VR fans have probably been waiting for – especially if you like Star Wars. Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series takes you to the planet of Mustafar where Darth Vader is searching for a way to bring Padme back. You’ll be able to wield lightsaber’s, use the force and uncover a storyline set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
Gadgeteer – Metanaut
Available in Early Access for a while now, this domino rally-style puzzle title will see an official launch next week adding a bunch of new features. A single-player experience where you can complete a story mode with 60+ puzzles or create your own machines in the sandbox mode, the launch will then add new gadgets and online sharing capabilities.
Yupitergrad – Gamedust
A puzzle platformer set on a space station, in Yupitergrad you have to try and escape after an experiment goes wrong. The only way to do this is with two grappling tools attached to your arms, swinging through levels avoiding all sorts of environmental traps.
Shooty Fruity – nDreams
Previously release back in 2017 for PC VR and PlayStation VR, nDreams is now bringing the multitasking wave shooter to Oculus Quest. Operate the tills and scan groceries to unlock more powerful weaponry with which to take down rampaging mutant fruit.
Project CARS 3 – Slightly Mad Studios
The third installment of Slightly Mad Studios’ popular racing sim, once again it’ll feature full VR support from the start. Jump into some of the most powerful cars in the world from elite brands, and race across 140 locations around the globe.
