The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners For PlayStation VR is Available Worldwide Today
Upset that Marvel’s Iron Man VR was indefinitely delayed last month with Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) blaming the coronavirus? Well don’t be because Skydance Interactive and Skybound Entertainment have just announced the launch for the excellent The Walking Dead: Saint & Sinners on PlayStation VR and it’s happening right now.
Originally released for PC VR headsets in January, The Walking Dead: Saint & Sinners takes place in the flooded remains of New Orleans. Just like the rest of the franchise, this is survival horror but in virtual reality (VR), where you have to scavenge for food and crafting materials, navigate walker filled streets and deal with combat situations that involve both zombie and human alike.
Offering an original storyline where you play a drifter new to the city, your task is not only to survive but also uncover what secrets the locals are keeping. You’ll be able to craft useful weapons, tools and other items looted from properties at a hub location before heading back out to continue your journey. The Walking Dead: Saint & Sinners is a visceral experience built around realistic physics, so guns have to be manually reloaded but the noise they make attracts walkers. So bladed weapons like knives and axes offer a silent kill option. However, these require stamina, especially two-handed weapons like the axe which can get stuck in skulls if you’re not careful.
The PlayStation VR version will include the same content as its PC brethren, whilst offering immersive controls schemes using the PlayStation Move controllers. The Walking Dead: Saint & Sinners will also be available in three editions, a standard version, the Tourist Edition (Digital Deluxe Edition) or the Tower Edition (Collector’s Edition) for those that want extra digital and real swag to play with.
VRFocus has covered The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners in-depth, saying in its review: “From the very beginning, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners offers a satisfying zombie experience that’s hard to match. Titles like Arizona Sunshine easily fill that need for straight-up arcade action, for when you want a living dead apocalypse with a bit more depth then The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is your new go-to videogame.”
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is available from $39.99 USD/£28.99 GBP via the PlayStation Store. The videogame previously launched for Oculus Rift/ Rift S, Oculus Quest (via Link cable only), HTC Vive and Valve Index.
