The Woods: VR Escape the Room is the Latest Brain Teaser from Blue Entropy Studios
Blue Entropy Studios has quite the catalogue of virtual reality (VR) titles under its belt, with the developer probably best known for its ‘VR Escape the Room’ series. Having previously released The Cabin: VR Escape the Room and The Ruins: VR Escape the Room in 2017, and Submerged: VR Escape the Room last year, most recently the studio has announced The Woods: VR Escape the Room.
For this fourth instalment in the series Blue Entropy Studios has put players inside a locked cage, hung way up in a tree and swinging around rather precariously. Having gone out for a nice gentle stroll and found yourself in this predicament without any memory of what happened you need to discover the secrets of the forest, solve a lot of puzzles, decipher ancient texts, and hopefully make it out.
The Woods: VR Escape the Room is all about roomscale gameplay, with the studio designing the whole experience to accommodate the minimum roomscale requirements for VR. This design idea also aims to ensure maximum immersion by doing away with features such as teleporting or artificial locomotion.
Developed using Unreal Engine 4, the title will rely on physical-based interactions, moving platforms and other tricks to keep players engaged in a small physical area. All the while a custom made ambient soundtrack will make the world seem alive whilst giving it a larger presence.
Blue Entropy Studios has yet revealed when The Woods: VR Escape the Room will be released on Steam, but it will support both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. The last instalment Submerged: VR Escape the Room is available for £3.99 GBP, or you can buy the VR Escape the Room Bundle for £10.24, offering a 25 percent saving.
