Top Gear to Offer 360 Episodes Immersing Fans into Stunt Cars
If you are a motoring enthusiast, you have most probably watched several episodes of the BBC motoring show Top Gear. It is one of the most popular TV shows globally thanks to the daring road trips and huge stunts involved. The program will now offer its fans three episodes of the show filmed in 360-degrees which will put the fans into the driver’s seat and take them on some massive and daring stunts.
It is similar to your typical Top Gear episode, taking cars and performing some outlandish stunts but the difference is that in this case, you the viewer will be in the driver’s seat within a 360-degree environment. To experience this, head over to the Top Gear YouTube Channel to immerse yourself in the first of the three episodes that will be available in 360 and which entail some serious stunts. To begin with, the film puts you as one of the cast, relaxing in a trailer. A Top Gear production team member will then escort you to a buggy that drives around the stunt which you are about to experience.
The first stunt involves the viewer strapping themselves to a petrol tanker and then jumping over a petrol station. Being a Top Gear production, don’t expect it to go smoothly. There will be fires and the cracking of the windscreen.
Top Gear will release the next two 360-degree films episodically. The second one will involve jumping over a mini music festival using an old and underpowered campervan. In the third film, you will have Star inside a Reasonably Priced Car, Kia C’eed, and he’ll be jumping over a supermarket carpark and into the last parking space. Finally, the 360 series ends with a behind-the-scenes look at how the films are produced.
Top Gear wanted to give its fans YouTube content that was not only entertaining but which took them behind the scenes to show how the stunts were made. Producing the content in 360 also enabled the producers to put their viewers in the driving seat and the result has been nothing short of spectacular.
Top Gear produced the 360 content in collaboration with REWIND (the studio behind the titles Ghost in Shell VR and Curfew: Join the Race).
