Vacation Simulator is Now on Oculus Quest
Google-owned Owlchemy Labs followed up its VR hit Job Simulator with the Vacation Simulator which took the game’s hands-on gameplay to a new comedic experience. Today, the studio has launched the game on the standalone Oculus Quest virtual reality headset.
If you have been busy working in Job Simulator, it is now time to take a vacation with the Vacation Simulator on the Quest headset.
Vacation Simulator is Owlchemy Labs’ latest virtual reality title and is a sequel to the original Job Simulator. Vacation Simulator expands on the mechanics and interactions of the game by offering new vacation-themed locales. The virtual reality sequel was originally launched on PSVR and PC VR early this year but is now available on the Oculus Quest headset from today.
A few days ago, Owlchemy Labs also posted a Twitter thread outlining some of the optimizations that its development team made to enable the game to run on Oculus Quest. Not only does the thread offer a behind-the-scenes peek at the changes but it also helps you understand some of the changes you will be seeing when playing the game on Oculus Quest as opposed to the PC VR version. Job Simulator has been rated as one of the best Quest games. Its sequel, Vacation Simulator, could see similar success on the standalone virtual reality platform. The plot in Job Simulator was about helping humans to remember how to “job” after all the laborious tasks had been taken up by robots. In the sequel, the robots have to learn about “not jobbing” and that will invariably entail relaxing on a holiday while performing various kinds of entertaining and stress-free tasks.
Vacation Simulator occurs in three locations namely, the beach, a forest as well as on top of a mountain. The players engage in various leisurely activities that are uniquely tailored to each of the locales. The tasks include building sandcastles, diving into the ocean and grilling burgers at the beach; painting, gardening, exploring the forests; skiing, making ice sculptures and throwing snowballs in the mountain among other activities.
Owlchemy Labs VR games are about immersing players into the virtual world so the game has few mechanics that are actually dependent on the traditional gameplay controls.
