Valve Makes Half-Life Series Freely Playable Until Half-Life: Alyx Launch
Valve’s Half-Life: Alyx is undoubtedly the most-anticipated virtual reality title set to launch in 2020. This will be the newest installment in a very popular series way back from the late 90s. It is not a sequel to the Half-Life 2 but fans are no less excited about its impending arrival in March. Valve continues to hype the pending arrival of the virtual reality hit. Its latest move has been to offer gamers a free access to all the Half-Life series on Steam.
The freely playable Half-Life games will expose gamers that have never played any of the titles in the franchise and who have been hesitant to spend on the 20-year old franchise an opportunity to experience the franchise. They will be introduced to the deadly Combine which have wormed their way into Earth. The free access is also an opportunity for players who have tried the series in the past to re-acquaint themselves with the storyline of the game.

The Half-Life: Alyx story has been set between the first two titles so it makes good sense to play through these titles to familiarize yourself fully with the story. In Half-Life: Alyx, Alyx Vance and her dad Eli are secretly mounting a resistance to fend off the brutal occupation by the mysterious alien race called The Combine. The player is cast as Vance and tries to save humanity by taking the battle to the invaders.
Details and screenshots that have been released so far of the Half-Life: Alyx show a very rich and ambitious virtual reality experience. The game is playable not only on Valve Index but also on Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality headsets and HTC Vive. The title is already available for pre-order. You can enjoy a 10% discount on Steam. Users own the Valve Index headset and the controllers will have a free access to Half-Life: Alyx.
