VR Fitness App Supernatural Adds Meditation Coaching and a Family Plan
The VR fitness app Supernatural is getting an upgrade with a new mode, an improved gameplay along with additional services that come as a subscription. We look at why the new family plan can be cost-effective in households with more than a single person along with some of the new features that you can expect in the VR fitness app.
Supernatural has always put a premium on individually adapted training plans as well as real-time coaching by virtual fitness trainers. The developer Studio Within is coming closer to this ideal and the feel of a real fitness studio.
Supernatural’s pricing model is also similar to that of a real-world fitness studio. This is a VR fitness app with a monthly subscription plan similar to what you would find in real fitness centers. Users can take either a monthly or an annual cancelable membership instead of a one-time pricing that you would find in other VR apps.
Supernatural is now expanding subscriptions and games to include new features and services.
Supernatural Now Allowing Different User Profiles
The VR fitness app has a new “family tariff” which allows up to four Supernatural users from the same household to share a single subscription on the same headset.
Every user will be able to create their own profile where they can save their training progress and individual settings. It will, however, not be possible to make a joint visit to the same virtual gym simultaneously as all the four members in the subscription plan must the use the same Oculus Quest headset to share the family subscription plan.
Access to the membership plan is only possible on a device where Supernatural is installed and the subscription set up. You can activate the additional profiles immediately, notwithstanding your membership plan, whether it is a monthly or annual membership plan.
New Subscription Model Offers Cost Savings
Supernatural was launched exclusively on Oculus Quest in April this year and while many of the early testers had praised its powerful visual representation and its demanding workouts, they criticized the subscription price rate which many deemed as too high. The VR fitness app BoxVR has recently rebranded with a major free update and offers users an almost similar experience but at a much lower price.
Supernatural’s monthly cancelable membership will still cost $19 while its annual membership plan has seen a $20 price reduction and now goes for $179. If you live in a household that is enthusiastic about VR fitness, you can now save even more with the new subscription model. When it is spread over four users (the maximum allowed), the cost comes down to an average of $44.75 per person per year.
The New Meditation Mode and Revised Gameplay
Supernatural’s independently-playable meditations give users relaxation after a strenuous Supernatural workout. You perform the new exercises under supervision in the many beautiful Supernatural-style VR landscapes.
Before the update, Supernatural only had a few short meditations that come at the end of Coach Antonio Harrison’s slow burn training.
Apart from these innovations, Within has also improved the platform’s fitness gameplay. The developer has refined the target system and optimized the flying objects. The trajectory of these objects now provides a better perspective on the movement patterns and ensures more realistic movement sequences during training. The haptic feedback now more closely adapts to the accompanying music. For example, it imitates persistent or fading tones with the appropriate controller vibrations.
Supernatural to Remain Exclusive to North America for the Time Being
As a result of the complex music rights regimen in the many countries across the world, Supernatural can only be fully used in US and Canada although Within is still working on a release outside North America. VR fitness enthusiasts outside North America will, in the meantime, have to contend with a limited trial version.
