VR Studio 3D Viz Targeting Aircraft Interiors Market
The Miami-based virtual reality and 3D animation studio 3D Viz wants to target the aircraft interiors market according to a statement issued by the company’s president Juan Pablo Magnalo during the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX 2019) this year.
The company has been in the aviation business over the past 15 years during which it specialized in the rendering of VIP aircraft interiors in advance of the completion projects. The VR studio now wants to shift its operations into the commercial aviation sector. The company has for the past decade been providing its services to players in the aviation business, primarily the OEMs and cabin providers. Its product offering including a vast array of rendering and animation services including virtual and augmented reality rendering, cabin configuration tools, CG virtual tours, 3D CGI animations, CG renderings and CG Models for 3D printing.
The VR studio has been involved in some major projects in the VIP aviation sector which have included the creation of digital representations of Air Force One along with that of its helicopter sibling Marine One. 3D Viz has also been involved in the completion of the Boeing BBJ 737 that belongs to the Dutch Royal family along with various other VIP rendering projects for clients in the Middle East.
The demand for virtual representations for airliner cabins has been growing by leaps and bounds in the recent years as highly discerning customers look for greater differentiation from their competitors.
3D Viz has also worked with Boeing in various projects including developing a cabin configuration tool for the BBJ 737s. Specialist virtual reality and 3D animation companies such as 3D Viz are generally very nimble in their approach to creating virtual representation for individual aircraft projects for various individual clients than the traditional interior design studios and completion centers which generally do not have the in-house capabilities for the immersive creations. They are therefore in very high demand in the industry as customers become a little more discerning about the design and feel of their aircraft interiors.
In contrast to Boeing, Airbus has directed considerable effort into developing its in-house capabilities for these kinds of tasks and does not rely on external service providers.
3D Viz expects up to half of its commercial aviation business to come from its airline cabin retrofit services with the rest of the business flowing in from line-fit projects.
